| 0:30.0 | And it's a poem that's written by Maddy Wine Gast. |
| 0:36.0 | So, his name is W-E-I-N-G-A-S-T. |
| 0:41.0 | And it's from the book The First Free Women. |
| 0:46.0 | And Maddy looked at the poems of the Terrigatta. |
| 0:51.0 | That is the first awakening poems. |
| 0:54.0 | I should say the awakening poems of nuns that are preserved in this Buddhist tradition. |
| 1:01.0 | And Maddy was inspired by those poems. |
| 1:04.0 | And if I wrote his own poems that are based on those, |
| 1:10.0 | but it includes some modern thinking, some modern twists. |
| 1:16.0 | So they're not a translations necessarily, but just use them as inspiration. |
| 1:22.0 | And I think these poems are just wonderful because Maddy is pointing to something that we recognize in practice. |
| 1:30.0 | But maybe we haven't, you know, articulated so well or maybe even understood so well. |
| 1:38.0 | So the poem that I dropped in during the meditation, maybe I'll say it's pointed to you that we get to be exactly who we are with this practice. |
| 1:51.0 | It's not asking us to be somebody different. |
| 1:54.0 | It's not asking us to completely transform ourselves into something or somebody that we're not. |
| 2:02.0 | And I love this. This is like so important. |
| 2:05.0 | I feel like it's asking us to move towards authenticity and to cultivate the skillful, the wholesome, the helpful parts of ourselves. |
