people just like to drink so any excuse where you can combine some activities with drinking

it's makes for a good time within reason also i think it's also part of the community aspect of mountain biking, the camaraderie that comes with riding.

riding i would say to be fair most people not just mountain bikers like beer and most people

with undamaged taste buds like craft beer unless you can't taste like everybody digs craft beer.

I'd say while there's a close relationship between mountain biking and beer, the same could be said for skiing, rock climbing, hiking, trail running, all sorts of music, including metal, rock, folk, blues, art, mountain towns in general, upscale downtown areas, big cities, small cities, and many, many other hobbies.
