Summary

Guest speaker: Lorenzo   THE FUND DRIVE HAS COME TO AN END AND THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR MAKING IT SUCCESSFUL   PROGRAM NOTES: It has been one year since our last fund raising effort, which means that the time has come once again to see if there is enough support for these podcasts to keep them going for another year. As I did last year, I will update the graphic that you see here to display the progress of our campaign. This year, in the way of saying thank you for your donation, everyone will receive the same gift, no matter the size of your donation. And that gift coincides with the announcement of a new edition of my psychedelic novel, The Genesis Generation. Not only is this edition being published in paperback, the final chapter has been rewritten to close up the loose ends that were originally planned on being revealed in the opening chapters of the next planned (but as yet unpublished) volume in the series. This new edition will be available on Amazon, and in bookstores, of course. However, everyone who makes a donation to this year's Psychedelic Salon pledge drive will receive, via email, a printable PDF file of the complete book.

Greetings from Symming, musical, linguistic art chips.

Greetings from Cyberdelic Space. This is Lorenzo, and I'm your host here in the Psychedelic Salon.

0:23.9

And I'd like to begin by letting you know that this is going to be a very brief podcast,

0:29.4

and it's going to be followed very shortly with a new Terrence McKenna talk.

0:33.8

But I'm separating this fun drive request from my regular podcast, so that I don't have to keep repeating the Pledge Drive information each week.

0:42.5

Instead, each week of the Fund Drive, I'll just give a brief statement of how we're doing.

0:47.4

But like it or not, we've come to the last month of our cash reserves that came in during last year's Fund Drive.

0:53.9

So as much as I dislike

0:55.7

doing this, I once again have to ask for your donations to keep the salon open for another year.

1:01.9

During the past 12 months, it's been nice to not have to worry about enough donations coming in

1:07.7

each month to cover our operating expenses. This past year, after switching

1:12.6

to an annual format, has actually been free of the financial stress that I felt in the previous

1:18.2

nine years of this podcast. Yep, that's right. This coming June 10th will be our 10-year anniversary.

Now, last year I offered a premium of a 16 gigabyte thumb drive with the first

1:30.4

400 podcasts from the salon on it. And it's been fun to learn of some of the places that these

1:35.8

drives have been seen in. But what I hadn't realized when I made that offer was what I was getting

1:41.0

into. It took me about 45 minutes each to copy those 400 podcasts onto a thumb drive,

1:47.8

and then I had to make a shipping label and take them to the post office.

1:52.0

Also, a whole lot of them were shipped to Europe, which required paperwork for each package.

1:57.2

In all, after considering postage, the cost of the drives and my time, well, I discovered that I'd made a pretty bad deal for myself.

2:05.8

But there are still, yet today, some people whose mailing addresses I never received or whose drives were returned because of a bad address.

2:14.8

And at the end of this podcast, I'm going to read the first name and initial
