Summary

Guest speaker: Terence McKenna PROGRAM NOTES: [NOTE: All quotations are by Terence McKenna.] “The moment is where we spend most of our time.” “Reality is a term that if it's used at all it's used in philosophy, in ontology, in epistemology. It is not a concept that you hear very often on the lips of scientists.” “The 'fallacy of misplaced concreteness' is the belief that there is something, somewhere which is real, which can be depended upon, which everything else can be referenced back to. And as long as you are victim of this fallacy you are philosophically naive and probably not at ease psychologically.” “The ego is this strange transference of loyalty from the group to the self, the individual body.” Download MP3 PCs – Right click, select option Macs – Ctrl-Click, select option

Greetings from Cyberdelic Space. And I'm your host here in the Psychedelic Salon.

And you're probably wondering if I ever even returned from the Arizona Wild Wild West Festival.

Well, my body is back here in Southern California, but my heart and mind are still out in the desert near Tucson.

Actually, I was going to post this podcast as soon as I returned a little over a week ago.

But for this past week out here, we've had a heat wave, otherwise known as a Santa Ana condition.

And when it gets hot, I get lazy.

0:56.5

But since we only get a handful of hot days each year, there's no need for air conditioning.

1:02.0

And I guess that means when it gets hot, I just sit back, sip a cool drink, and wait for it to cool

1:06.8

off a bit, which it now has done. So I no longer have an excuse for goofing off.

1:12.5

But getting back to the festival, I want to thank Life and the rest of the organizers and staff

1:18.3

for putting on such a wonderful event. There were several stages, and so the live music only took a

break while during a little rainstorm on Saturday afternoon.

1:30.2

And, oh, the music was excellent.

1:35.1

There was just a really wide selection, and, well, I only wish that I'd had more energy and could have stayed up later each night to hear some of the bands that I had to miss.

1:40.0

Now, I know there's been some criticism of the festival circuit, mainly by grumpy old curmudgins who think that you young kids should get more serious

1:48.3

and get jobs instead of going to music festivals.

1:51.6

But I, for one, am not only not such a critic, I'm instead a huge supporter of these events.
