Why don't we get started here with our news and let's go to Afghanistan where nine security

personnel have been killed after an Afghan military helicopter was downed and they think

this was by militia forces in eastern Afghanistan on Thursday.

And this is kind of a big deal because it signals this kind of rift between the Afghan government

and those regional forces, they're supposedly under the control of the Afghan government.

So this fighting occurred in the war deck province.

That's the mountainous province that borders Kabul in the country's east.

If you look at pictures of it, you know, that's where all the snow capped peaks.

And they're militia forces led by a guy named Abdul Ghani Alapur, who's a local warlord,

have been engaged in this tense and sometimes violent standoff with government troops since

January.

And these latest clashes are now calling the question as whole relationship between the Afghan

government and the militias.

So according to a spokesperson for the warlord, Alapur, Muhammad Hussein, Tawana, he said,

quote, there was fighting helicopters were targeting us.
