into an ash pit yet again. And yes, this is in Reading, California, and firefighters battling this huge wildfire

up there, Redding is in northern California, in case you didn't know. Redding seems to be out of

the immediate line of danger for now, but three smaller communities were in danger as the

flames closed in, and they are doing mandatory evacuations up there

The fire grew by about 35% overnight to 127 square miles and pushed southwest of Redding,

California, towards the communities of Ono, Ego, and Gas Point.

That's the name of a town, Gas Point. Good name.

And this is now the largest of more than 20 fires burning in California right now.

The winds that aided firefighters in keeping the flames from more populated areas were propelling the

fire forward at a frightening rate. And Chris Anthony, a spokesman for Cal Fire, and again, if you

don't know, Cal Fire is the state agency responsible for fighting wildfires. And Anthony said, we are not getting a break with the weather.

It just continues to be really hot, really dry, and we continue to get those winds. This fire's

getting so big, and there are so many different parts to it. Now, this fire is being referred to as

the car fire, C-A-R-RR and they say it was ignited Monday by a vehicle

somehow and exploded Thursday night it jumped the Sacramento River and then that's when it

pushed into Redding which is about 250 miles north of San Francisco and the largest city in that region.

It has about 92,000 residents.
