Summary

This week Kat (@kat.defatta) brought Derrick Billups (@bodybybillups) back to the show for round 2! Derrick is the owner and founder of CityFit Concierge (@cityfitconcierge) and one of Kat's good friends and personal trainer. Together they talk about perspectives and how PMA (positive mental attitude) changes the way you see and experience life. Derrick also tells us how to cultivate motivation and then asks Kat what area of our health (physical, mental spiritual) she thinks is the most important and why. Spoiler: It is kind of a trick question.

Hi guys and welcome back to another new episode of Unine Therapy podcast.

0:19.9

My name is Kat and I am the host and so glad you're here.

0:24.1

Today I'm super excited about the guest I have and the conversation that I have with our guest.

0:29.8

I want to say up top before we get into anything, always remember that, yes, I am a therapist.

0:35.2

Totally for sure am. This podcast is not therapy. It is more so a springboard

0:41.2

for conversations that I hope you guys continue to have with yourselves and others out into the real world.

0:47.0

So with that, let's talk about my guest today. Most of you guys will be familiar with who it is,

0:52.7

even if you don't know him, because he is

0:54.9

somebody that is a part of my life. And I've talked about him on the show before, and he's been on

0:59.7

the show before. It is Derek Billups, who is the owner of city fit concierge rooted in Nashville.

1:06.6

It's in other cities as well. And then also, he is my own trainer that you might have seen me working

1:12.4

out with on Instagram. Derek is somebody who I have known for six or seven years, and we have

1:18.6

both seen each other in different stages and walks of life as we have been both developing,

1:24.1

not just us as people, but our careers and kind of going out there and making

1:28.7

things happen. So he's somebody who's very special to me and I appreciate him a lot, a lot,

1:34.0

a lot. He's also somebody who, which you will see, we don't agree on everything. And that's one of

1:39.6

the reasons I love this conversation because rather than it being a conversation where I just nod my head at him

1:45.7

and he just nods his head at me, we are both challenging each other and also sharing our experiences

1:53.1

and our knowledge with each other not to necessarily, it might sound like it, but not to necessarily

1:57.7

totally change their mind, but to offer a different perspective. So one of the reasons I really like him as a human is he's definitely not a yes man,

2:07.2

although sometimes Derek, I want you to be. But I want to say, so we talk about some things
