0:41.0	What about pots, compost bags, horticultural fleece, netting? Gardener's are often seen as guardians of
0:48.1	green space, lovers of nature and protectors of plants. But the many ways we use this material,
0:54.1	plastic is an issue that gardeners need to address.
0:57.7	There are about 500 million plastic pots in circulation,
1:01.3	yet only one third of rigid plastic is ever recycled.
1:05.0	And most plastics aren't biodegradable,
1:07.1	meaning they stay in our oceans, on our beaches, in landfill,
1:10.4	and littering our landscapes for hundreds of years.
1:14.4	Millions of animals are killed by the stuff every year, from birds to fish to other marine organisms,
1:20.1	which is why we're dedicating today's show to tackling the curse of plastic.
