What about pots, compost bags, horticultural fleece, netting? Gardener's are often seen as guardians of

green space, lovers of nature and protectors of plants. But the many ways we use this material,

plastic is an issue that gardeners need to address.

There are about 500 million plastic pots in circulation,

yet only one third of rigid plastic is ever recycled.

And most plastics aren't biodegradable,

meaning they stay in our oceans, on our beaches, in landfill,

and littering our landscapes for hundreds of years.

Millions of animals are killed by the stuff every year, from birds to fish to other marine organisms,
