Asparagus is a plant that I really did not like as a child. In fact I remember being

0:19.6

forced to sit at the table until I ate it and eventually I would but just something

0:24.4

about it I don't know maybe it was the way that everyone cooked food in the 90s

0:27.8

seems like a lost generation as far as suburban food cooking practices. I have no idea. That being said,

asparagus is something that I will at the very least be attempting to grow in

0:39.2

my property because it's a zone 3 to 8 plant. I'm in zone 10b. It's going to be a little bit trickier for me to grow, but I'm certainly going to give it a try because asparagus can live for 20 years, which means where you put your asparagus needs to be perfect and that's what we're going to be

easier to care for. You get a lot of care. It's going to be a little bit easier to care for. You get a lot of

protection, but basically with asparagus you would want to plant the

1:18.1

crowns or the seeds about 18 inches apart in rows. That would be if you were planting them in the ground.

1:25.2

What that does is it allows the root system and the plant a lot of room to spread out and

1:30.4

then you have some room to walk along those rows.

In a raised bed, you don't have to do that.

You can space them a little bit closer together

because you can just walk around your bed really easily,
