If you plant abundantly and if you allow your native plants to go to seed and you encourage

reproduction through the seeds, volunteers, what you end up with is both a green mulch.

So instead of bringing mulch in every year, essentially the lower level plants are protecting the soil and those roots are

intertwining and supporting each other. And you've got such an abundance of plants that you can feed,
