Welcome to another sparkling edition of Plank of the Week, right here in Talk Radio TV Towers.

0:13.8

We are here and we are ready and we've got lots of planks to talk about.

0:17.0

I'm with Kevin O'Sullivan, a veteran of this very show, and Emma Webb, of course, who's been here many times as well.

0:22.5

We've got so much to do, I think we should get on with it right now.

0:25.8

Kevin, why don't you kick us off with your first Plank of the week?

0:28.3

I'm going to go for the Director General, or the former Director General of the BBC, Tony Hall,

0:34.8

who at this moment while we're recording Plank, is in Parliament,

0:39.4

giving his testimony to a committee of MPs about the appalling Martin Bashir saga

1:30.8

I mean, he had plenty of time to do it in between, if you see what I mean.

1:35.0

But also, they'd already admitted that he did all the things that he's accused of doing.

1:38.6

Exactly right. It's not much of recovery.

1:39.9

So they've tried to come up with it. Look, well, look, we've investigated. And we're in the clear. Well, no, you're not. And Tony Hall, basically, when they rehired Bashir, which is the real problem they've got right now. So they knew back in 1995, they knew what he did, particularly Tony Hall, who was head of news. He went on to become Director General. So when Bashir was bafflingly rehired in 2016 as religious editor of all things.

2:07.8

What a great idea that was.

2:09.5

What job should we give it?

2:10.4

Oh God, that's a mistake.
