Verse by verse, that's what we're doing.

So we're in Matthew chapter 26 as we go through the Bible together.

Why don't you turn there with me?

Matthew 26, we began the chapter on Wednesday night and made it to about verse 30.

But what I'd like to do is, you know, we take our Sunday text from our upcoming Wednesday study.

And so I want to

bounce around this chapter a little bit, and we're not going to talk about the story as much

as we're going to identify some things that poor Peter does in the story. And this is one of

Peter's not so good days. Poor Peter, man. He goes down as

sort of this goofy foot in the mouth, saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, doing the wrong

things all the time. But I got to start saying, I love Peter. I think of all the disciples,

I relate to Peter the best. He's the guy.

And I also want to remind you that Peter ends up being a total awesome apostle who is

inspired and filled with the Holy Spirit and does some amazing things after the resurrection

of Jesus.

But before the resurrection of Jesus, Peter's often an example of what not to do.

And so I got to tell you, when I meet Peter in heaven someday,

I hope he's not mad at me for giving this sermon,

because I'm going to point out all of Peter's mistakes that he does.

Just only here in chapter 26, it's enough for a whole sermon, all the things.

In fact, I have seven things that Peter does here that I want to

use as a lesson for us of pitfalls to watch out for. And we pick it up right here in chapter 26.
