Hello everyone. You're listening to the Earful Tower podcast. My name is Oliver G. And I'm about to

0:05.2

transport you to Paris, specifically to the third arrondissement of Paris, known as the Marais. But more on

0:11.9

that in a second. First, I want to dedicate this episode to two very special people. Two people

0:17.8

who answered the call that I put out on the weekly newsletter. Never heard of that.

You should sign up immediately. But I said, if you sign up on Patreon and support this show, I'll give

0:28.2

you a shout out. And this is for them. Terry Cardwell and Karina Christensen. Welcome behind the

scenes. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for supporting the show and making it possible.

Today, no exception. You're about to hear from Emilia Filippo, the curator of the Picasso Museum.

1:12.6

But before that, we need to learn a little bit about this third district. So I asked Bertrand, a very

1:19.6

knowledgeable tour guide from my private Paris. I said, Bertrand, explain the third hour in this month

1:24.3

to me. And this is what he said.

1:25.7

Ah, the 3rd, the 3rd district. I love it. It's part of Le Marais, not all of it, but

1:31.1

the 3rd Arondissement is the perfect balance between the old and the new. It's where you find

1:35.3

the house of Nicola Flamele, for instance, the alchemist who really existed, the one in

1:40.0

Harry Potter's books, but it's also where you find the upcoming stores, the trendiest places.

1:46.1

So whether you're a history buff or you just want to follow the new trends and get to the

1:50.1

new eateries, it's the place to go to.

1:53.0

So there'll be more on Bertrand at the end of the episode, providing, as one listener, Alex
