And let's get right to our question this week.

Hi Joel and Antonia, my step-mom is an E&TJ and my girlfriend is an I&FJ.

And it's not that they necessarily don't get along, but they don't exactly relate to each

other all that well, and I think it's because of the

difference between TE and FE, TE being focused on metrics and measurements in the

outside world and the flip side of FI or authenticity, and. being focused on social norms, politeness, and keeping harmonies sometimes regardless

of whether or not it's necessarily authentic. And as a result of this, I found that FJ's, more specifically I FJ's, tend to keep quiet and

withholds certain information instead of speaking up for fear of rocking the boat and causing

unneeded conflict, or even because they just don't want

to be rude.

Which, from my experience, TE doesn't really like because they need and want that external

measurement, and therefore any inauthenticity or withholding

of the facts could be construed as being rude or manipulative. Hence why I think the disconnect is

found in the difference between TE.E. in my situation. I also know that there are other factors outside of type that could influence this as well, but I've identified that as a large portion of it. I also remember Antonia mentioning on a few occasions

that her mother and brother are INFJ and E&TJ respectively. I know that there are a lot of

contextual differences between these two relationships,

but I was wondering if you could elaborate or explain how and why these two functions or types

could misinterpret each other since you may have some firsthand experience with this.
