Hope you're doing good.

I'm upstairs in the loft above our garage where we do house church every Sunday night.

And this Sunday after church, I was talking to a group of young guys and they were saying, Alex,

you should do a video about phone addiction.

And I had already been thinking about doing a video about this earlier that week.

And after these guys gave me the push I needed,

I started to think deeper about it. And the Holy Spirit brought me back to the story of

the rich young ruler in Matthew chapter 19 versus 16 through 22. And I came to this conclusion

that the rich young ruler would have most likely had a phone addiction if phones existed back

then. And I came to this conclusion because in the main podcast, Amen podcast with my wife

Locke Lonnie and I, we're going through the book of Matthew. And the next episode that

comes out this weekend is on Matthew chapter 16, verses 26 to 28, where Jesus says,

what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose their soul?

And as I thought about that question, is that not exactly what the rich young ruler is doing

in Matthew chapter 19?

He's trying to gain the world, but in the process, he's losing his soul.

In verse 22 of Matthew 19, it says that he walked away sorrowful, deeply troubled.

Why the Bible says? Because he had great possessions. He had great possessions. He walked away from
