To the South China Sea, to information coming from the confrontation between the Chinese

PLA Navy Coast Guard and the Philippine Coast Guard in these last days.

Right now what we know is that the Philippines will not invoke Article 5 in the Mutual

Defense Pact recently arranged by the United States and President

Marcos will not.

However, we also learn from informances of Financial Times that China has learned that the Philippines

have secretly reinforced the Sierra Madre, the ground craft that they've used as a platform to maintain control well inside

their economic zone, exclusive economic zone, called the second Thomas

Scholl.

Apparently, according to this informant, this is Bonnie Glazer of the German

Marshall Fund.

The Chinese presumed the C. R. Madja would fall apart and they'd just pick up second Thomas Scholl as theirs.

Well it hasn't because Beijing is aware and infuriated, says Bonny Glazer, that the Philippines

has successfully delivered construction materials.

China has waited 25 years for the ship to disintegrate and slide off the reef
