A lot of discussion, of course, about national politics in the wake of last night's very

mediocre interview with Kamala Harris, Tim Walls, and CNN's Dana. Don't call me Dana Bash.

I didn't really learn anything. It left me wanting more. She did an okay job. It was a friendly interview.

Didn't really move the needle. If I wasn't sure her, I was going to vote for it, didn't really

influence me one way or the other. But one thing I can say is that the Democratic side of the

ledger seems to be more focused on positive news, upbeat news, moving ahead.

I don't want to use the word joy because that's kind of a cliche from the convention last

week, whereas the Republicans under former President Trump seem to be always in chaos.

And one of the best examples of that is this week.

President Trump, former President Trump visited Arlington National Cemetery on Monday,

the three-year anniversary of our evacuation of Afghanistan, ostensibly to honor the veterans or the soldiers lost that day,

only for it to turn into this huge controversy because apparently he knowingly violated federal law

by using that appearance to essentially create a campaign ad.

He denies it, there was pushing and shoving, the army got involved and rebuking the Trump campaign.

And it's been a real mess to use a non-technical term.

ABC's senior national reporter from the Pentagon is Ann Flaherty.

And what's the latest on this today?

Is it still a controversy or is it died down?

Well, you know, I think calling it a real mess is probably the most accurate way to describe it.

Because, of course, as you mentioned, you know, President Trump was there to try to draw attention to this suicide bomber and the explosion in Afghanistan three years ago.
