Good morning and welcome to the Independent Republic of Mike Graham right here on Talk

or Radio. It is time for a quick health check, ladies and gentlemen. The nation has been

paralyzed with fear for the best part of the last five months, frightened to go out, scared to

go back to work, worried about getting on a train, and terrified of dying of the world's

most dangerous virus. Well, some of you have been like that

anyway. Fortunately, not everyone feels the same way, but the government can't seem to decide

which of the two groups of people to side with. While wrestling with a complex problem of

how to figure out the measurement of academic success for teenagers this week, the government

has also been plotting to try and drag us kicking and screaming back to some kind of normality.

Heaven help us, after all.

This morning, Health Secretary Matt Hancock has been explaining his decision to us at Talk Radio.

He announced yesterday that Public Health England is no more and it is to be replaced with a new entity entitled

the National Institute for Health Protection.

Will it be any better?

Will it do what it is supposed to do?

Hancock says we'll be getting regular tests for coronavirus, even if we don't have symptoms.

But it's a step change for the government. But if it helps lift even more of the lockdown,
