Our top story this week is Verizon, where 36,000 workers, that's 20% of the company's total workforce went on strike. Now, salary isn't really the

issue. There seemed to be some agreement, in fact, on a 6.5% increase. What did break down talks

were disagreements over benefits and job security. And as you would expect, Democratic

presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders eagerly embraced the cause of Verizon

workers, even briefly joining the striking workers on the picket line. So what do you think about

this is Verizon being an evil company, Jay, or are the workers just being unreasonable in their

demands? Well, you can guess where I'm coming down on this one, I would say the workers perhaps might be unreasonable.

Now, reasonableness is something that it's really up to the employees and the company to figure out for themselves.

But the employee's grievance, the union's grievance, seems to be less about we're being treated

poorly or working conditions or bad or so forth as opposed to the company's making more money
