Summary

Petr Jasek, a Czech national and VOM’s Africa regional director, spent 445 days in a Sudanese prison. Days after returning home, Petr sat down with VOM Radio to share his story and thank the thousands of people who prayed for him and his co-defendants during his long months in prison. Listen in as Petr shares about going to the airport to leave Sudan in December of 2015, and the point when he knew that what he faced was much more than a routine security screening. He’ll share how he kept praying as he was questioned, and how he found out that his cell mates were members of ISIS. 0:00.0	Late in 2015, Peter Yassick went to Sudan on behalf of Voice of the Martyrs to serve hurting people in the name of Jesus Christ.
0:10.0	He was arrested, then charged with conspiring against the Sudanese government.
0:16.0	They started to slap to my face.
0:18.8	I was hit with their fist into my face many times. I got hit with a wooden stick, either on my head, my shoulders, or from my fingers, or they kicked me into my stomach with this rod.
0:34.4	And in the middle of being beaten for his faith in Christ,
0:39.2	Peter became even closer to his Savior.
0:42.3	I was really thinking about the Lord Jesus,
0:45.5	what he had to go through when he was arrested
0:48.4	and they also were beating him his wooden stick
0:51.0	and they were ridiculing him slapping him and this moment I
0:55.5	could clearly see the Lord Jesus and how he suffered for us.
1:01.1	Jesus never promised his followers an easy path. In fact, he told his disciples that the
1:06.2	world would hate them. He sent them out as sheep among wolves. Jesus's words came
1:11.8	true in the life of the Apostles, and they're still coming true today in the lives of his followers around the world.
