0:07.2	We were going to talk about the Chin, but we're going to talk more about one of the guys that
0:12.2	really locked in the conviction on Vincent the Chin Gigante back in the day and forced him to

0:23.8	Larry, I really appreciate you coming on the show, and you kind of are one of the experts on Vincent
0:30.3	the Chin Gigante.
0:31.4	You wrote the book.
0:32.4	So first of all, tell us a little bit about the book, and I'll put pictures of it on
0:37.4	the YouTube, and I'll have links to Larry's book and the show notes guys.
0:43.2	Yeah, the name of the book is Chin, the Life and Times of Vincent Gigante.
0:49.6	And it sort of traces his ascension from, you know, the son of Italian immigrants who settled in Greenwich Village to his rise to the top of the Genovese crime family.
1:05.0	In the early 80s, I think the Genevies were kind of regarded as, I think the term they used to use was like the Ivy League of the New York mob.
1:17.4	He ran it for a good long time until they finally convicted him in 1997, I believe.
1:24.5	And one of the reasons, the biggest reason, his reign was so long,
1:29.7	is because he managed to perplex prosecutors by pretending that he had a mental illness.
1:39.9	And they would, his lawyers would argue in court that he was not mentally fit to stand trial.
1:48.5	And this dragged on for a long time.
1:51.5	I mean, there's famous stories.
1:53.5	The cops came to arrest him one time.
1:55.7	And he was standing naked in the shower, holding an umbrella over his head.
2:03.2	And he would wander. He lived on Sullivan Street in Greenwich Village. And for years, he never left there. You know, and you could see
