Good morning my friends. Welcome back. It is time for the morning mindset. Whether it's

morning afternoon or evening, if you are starting your day or even if you're not

starting your day and you're having kind of a reboot session right now in

the middle of your day. I'm so thankful that you're with me and I'm honestly I'm

proud of you as a brother or sister in Jesus Christ that you are taking this

intentional step to get yourself ready for the day. My friends we have a

challenging passage in front of us today. Peter in 1st Peter chapter 2 has been talking about the attitude and

demeanor that believers in Jesus Christ are to have in the world around them. How are we to show up? What are we to be like in our culture? And he

brought up a phrase that may not have stuck out to you when I read it previously because I didn't put a lot of

emphasis on it. I just went on and talked about the practical but we need to back up

because Peter is going to begin a theme here, a topic that is going to

stretch through the rest of this chapter, chapter two and through most of

chapter three and that is the issue of the S word. No, not that S word. It's not a four letter

word. It's the word submission. He says it real subtly in verse 13 where he says be subject for the Lord's sake to every human institution

and then we went on and we talked about that but this idea of being subject or being submissive to others is one

that goes against the grain of our culture big time because we've been raised

especially in the West to be rugged individuals to be

independent to be pushing ourselves to the forefront in boldness and confidence

in assertiveness. And it's not that Christians are not

bold, it's not that we're not confident, it's not that we are not assertive, it's just

in the way we go about doing that, we do so for the

sake of other people. You see we are submissive to others in the sense that we desire to serve them.
