Well, welcome back to the Bill Bennett show. It's the podcast and translates

existential threats to America. We are also, I want to say, having, I believe believe what's been talked about for years but rarely happens

We are actually having a national conversation about race with candor intelligence and goodwill

at least as much intelligence as I can muster.

But we're actually having a good conversation. We'll continue that today with Peter Kursinau.

He's a partner with Benesch's Labor and Employment Practice Group, also a member of the United States Commission on Civil Rights,

will get his thoughts on the current protest, police engagement with African Americans,

and the fallout from the killing of George Floyd and others. I'd like to discuss a few things first

to read an email and comment on it because it's very well done and very interesting.

So in terms of the current national conversation about race, forget it.

And you know, a lot of what I think is in there and I don't know if any of these proposals are going to mean anything but the president's

kind of forced to do something or it's going to be accused of not being interested.

But I agree with Peter, most of what matters here is what happens on the local level

but let's adjust this conversation to talk about things that are real and I believe

there are some real things to talk about as I make plain in my conversation with

Peter and you know let's not turn into a

tantrum let's not turn into a harangue on either side and I think there's some good

food for thought in this discussion and it pretty much summarizes where I am and

we'll hear from the estimable Peter Curson now.
