Peter Jennings, also a veteran, on this week of Veterans Day, about what it means to serve

and patriotism. James Polis, executive editor of the American mind on what's happening in our big cities.

Tim Doltz from Hillsdale's physics department on exoplanets.

And we'll hear excerpts from a lecture given at the Kirby Center in Washington, D.C., from Rihon Salam, his recent book, Melting Pot, or Civil War.

We're joined by Dr. Peter Jennings, assistant professor of management here at Hillsdale College,

also a veteran, served in the Marines.

Dr. Jennings, thanks for joining us.

Thank you for having me.

As we start, just tell us first a little about what you do here at Hillsdale College.

Well, as you said, I'm a professor here, assistant professor of management.

I teach classes primarily on leadership, variety of leadership classes.

I teach a classical leadership class, military, biblical.

All my classes have a strong emphasis on moral development, character formation, that kind of thing.

So, as I mentioned, you were a veteran.

We're in the Marines.

Why did you decide to join the Marines?

Take us to that decision, if you could.

And what drew you to the Marine Corps over perhaps other branches?
