We come to you on this Wednesday, and I know it's a very, very tough Wednesday for MET fans.

And for a lot of them, I know it's kind of like the final straw, you know, the other shoe

dropping.

But I have to tell you personally, I never, ever felt the Mets were going to re-up Alonzo.

I have said that on this program all year because I knew what

Stearns, I had been told what Sterns thought about Alonzo. I think he is a guy who, number one,

he's very aloof. It comes off very cold. We know that he's very much tied into the information he's tied into and the people he's tied into.

He keeps everything very close to the vest.

And he has had a thought on Alonzo where he was never going to give him a long-term contract.

And he made that very clear.

And he had made it very clear to Pete and his people.

I mean, so it was not a secret.

So I never thought that Alonzo was going to go back.

I thought off last year that Alonzo would get a contract from somebody,

whether it was the Cubs, whether it was the Red Sox,

it turned out to be the Orioles who were now in a spending mode. So am I surprised? Not in the least. Do I know this is very

tough for Med fans to swallow, to see Nimmo go? And actually, I was surprised by some of the

affection that the Met fans really showed for Diaz.

And let's start with the Diaz thing first.

Number one, clearly Diaz didn't want to be here.
