Summary

Caroline O’Connor is a Registered Dietitian and Personal Trainer who helps clients develop habits to support a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. In today's episode with Caroline O’Connor, you’ll hear us take a deep dive on: 1. Macronutrients: comprising proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, macronutrients are fundamental food groups essential for creating balanced meals, not just for bodybuilders or fitness enthusiasts, but often misunderstood or overlooked in healthy eating discussions. 2. Balanced eating: It’s all about comfortably navigating the gray area between strict rules and indulgence, such as opting for a combination of favored carbs and vegetables for a satisfying, balanced plate, rather than strictly adhering to low-carb or low-fat options, which should be viewed as tools for balance rather than a lifestyle. 3. Micronutrients: Micronutrients, comprising minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, etc., indicate the non-caloric benefits food provides to our bodies, beyond energy and satiety. 4. The importance of personalized nutrition plans. There is no one-size-fits-all diet. When making dietary changes and recommendations, it is so important to fill in all the blanks on a person’s lifestyle, health conditions, measurements, and their existing diet before even considering what needs changing.
