make sure that even on your bank accounts and your credit union accounts, any retirement accounts,

any financial accounts, that your beneficiaries are updated. Yeah, please don't leave your ex-husband

as your beneficiary on your retirement accounts. Okay. Exactly. That's why I like to roll things

over into one account so that I don't have a bunch of accounts everywhere because then I can see

everything there. Make a list of all your accounts and then little by little go through and update them

and you're checking and savings accounts you know make sure there are beneficiaries listed for those.

And then once you've done all of the legwork, contact an estate planning attorney to see if it would

benefit you in your state to set up

a trust. And then after doing all that practical thing and getting your attorney, setting up a trust,

whatever, see if you still need life insurance. As Gen Xers, you know, we're getting closer and

closer, we have to have all those things in order. Because if we don't, then it's just going to put a burden on our kids.

Absolutely. And we don't want to continue to repeat these cycles of struggle. So if you can be an active participant in breaking that cycle, this message is for you.
