Joel Beeke is president and professor of systematic theology and homiletics at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary and a pastor at Heritage Reformed Congregation in Grand Rapids, MI. He is also editor of Banner of Sovereign Grace Truth, editorial director of Reformation Heritage Books, president of Inheritance Publishers, and vice president of the Dutch Reformed Translation Society.

But you see God keeps the poor and the needy people. They cannot deny that he's

worked something of these marks in their lives, but they grieve that they don't have more of all of them.

Jeremiah 17-9 tells us that our heart is deceitful and desperately wicked.

The devil is also our accuser, so it can be challenging to look inward as we seek to have assurance that we truly are Christians.

But inward reflection is part of our assurance.
