Summary

Cyclings Holy Week is all about Tour of Flanders and Paris Roubaix, but sandwiched between those two monuments is the sprinters classic, Scheldeprijs.

Escape Collective was on the ground for the Week and took a trip to Terneuzen for the start of the race named after the river Schelde to record a Performance Process pit walk special.

In this episode, Ronan and Caley take us on a roam around the Scheldeprijs start area, talking flat race bike optimisation, the one bike they’d pick, and much more.

Hello Ronan, where are we? This is going to be a somewhat unusual episode.

0:22.1

We're in turn using, aren't we? There's. We're in Ternusen, aren't we? Isn't that the name is?

0:25.0

Ternusen. Yeah. In the Netherlands, for the start of Skeldeprise.

0:28.0

Skeldeprise coming between Flanders and Rubay, so we're recording this on Wednesday afternoon at this point isn't

0:34.1

and we're standing outside the Borah Hans-Krua bus looking at that team's fleet

0:39.5

of tarmac SL-8 that they will be racing today and a couple of interesting

0:42.8

little things it's sort of got us thinking well perhaps we should do a little

0:46.3

pet walk style episode. Yeah we like a good pit walk I think the the listeners out

0:50.3

there like a good pit walk so that's's what we're going to do. Obviously

0:53.3

today's race. I guess we should sort of put the thing in context, right? So

0:56.2

today's race is just it's a little sprinters classic midweek thing.

0:59.9

There's a little bit of cobbles today, but not enough.

1:02.8

Basically, everybody's on a normal road setup.

1:05.3

So we're going to be looking at sort of the optimization around,

1:08.8

well, a normal road setup for a very flat bicycle race.

1:12.6

And yeah, I think that's actually one of the things that has changed with this race over time.

1:17.0

So the race is popularity and prestige sort of tracks with how well Belgium tend to be doing.

1:22.0

So if Tom Boonin was here, it would be a lot

1:24.2

positive than we're seeing today. Yes. But a bit quiet, bit rainy. It also tracks with

1:28.6

sort of trends in tech, so previously we would have seen this race as the last chance to try out your

1:34.4

parry-rubay specific setups and instead of that today what we're seeing is
