Hey deserving listeners today we're going to talk about perfectionism.

Perfectionism

perfectionism is a really difficult thing for people. It can cause all sorts of problems

for people in their lives, things like lack of motivation, low self-esteem, anxiety, and worrying about things being perfect.

It can even lead to eating disorders, difficulties in school with being able to actually turn things

in for fear of it not being perfect.

It can lead to depression, other mood disorders it can lead to

imposter syndrome feeling like you're just an imposter faking like you're good

at something and with all that stress you can become burnt out with something because you're trying all the time to be perfect and it will burn you out and you just say I can't I can't do this anymore.

And this it can even lead to suicide. Perfectionism has been linked with actually

dying. So perfectionism can, in essence, kill people. You know, it's really rough. It's a really rough

experience for the most part. And of course the internet is full of bad

information about perfectionism. The internet loves to distort our psychological concepts.

When it comes to perfectionism, the internet seems to think that it's just, you know, liking things

to be in order or preferring to be organized or something and

certainly that can be an element of perfectionism but as I've you know mentioned

perfectionism can be much more difficult than just a preference for things being in order.

And of course if you're a famous person or a famous performer and you're particular about your performances being good, then the internet will label you as a perfectionist, you know, that people like Madonna or something.

It's like she cares about her shows and therefore she's a perfectionist.

Barbara Streisand, this kind of thing. And it all that talk in the internet just really I think

demeans the experience of actual humans and so that's what I'm going to talk

about today. I want to talk about perfectionism and kind of go through all the different aspects of it and the different levels and some there's there's beneficial forms of perfectionism and also destructive.
