Today we have Caroline Martin from Brewster, Massachusetts. She's sharing her lift, perfect timing,

on the highways of life. Some time ago, while driving to work, two deer leapt out of the forest onto the road directly in

front of my car. I narrowly avoided hitting them as they bounded across the highway into the woods.

I was both startled and relieved. When I arrived at work,

I shared my experience with a friend, describing it as being a very close call. This friend

paused a moment and said gently, instead of thinking of what happened as a close call, why don't you

think of it as God's perfect timing? I have never forgotten that. To me, it means that God,

who is all good, all loving, and who fills all space, must have complete

control over her creation and doesn't leave anything to chance. What appeared as a near

miss to me was God's tender orchestration of harmony, which resulted in the protection of both the dear and me.

The notion that anything can happen at any time has been replaced in my thought with the assurance of God's shepherding care.

Through my study of Christian science, I know that each one of us is in truth entirely

spiritual. This assurance is a prayer for everybody. And the more I amplify this in my heart,

the more I witness and experience it on all the highways of life.

A few days ago, I was driving home from doing errands in town.

At the exact moment I turned my car from the busy street onto my road,

I saw my daughter's newly adopted dog walking by himself, heading onto a street full of moving traffic.

I was able to pull over, call him to me, and bring him safely home, where I discovered he'd slipped through a gate.

I held the little dog so close, and instead of thinking,

oh, wow, what a close call, I quietly whispered,

thank you, Father, Mother God, for your perfect timing.
