Mike shares insights into his actual cloning technique where he emphasizes the need for proper clone placement and depth. He explains how plugs hold water at a certain "table level" in your clone dome, and where you should be placing your cuts to allow them to take up water and nutrients. This leads a conversation about optimal moisture levels, and Mike. drops some tips on using weight as a metric of moisture. Mike also talks about using household alternatives to clone gels like aloe and willow bark extract- and why IBA is still the best choice for home growers. Mike wraps up the show by talking about caring for many many clones at once, and how the difficulty of cloning goes as the amount of genetics increases.

| 0:39.6 | You're ready to take cuts. |
| 0:40.6 | So what are you, what's your strategy when you're getting in there, actually slicing the plant, |
| 0:45.3 | de-leafing or not? |
| 0:46.4 | Talk to me about that. |
| 0:47.8 | So one big thing that I try to really tell growers is to don't use scalples by many decent scissors like it scissors |
| 0:59.9 | scissors allow you to make a cut in the air like it that is way cleaner than using any cutting |
| 1:06.8 | board the scalpel and cutting board thing when i see people taking cuts off that, it kind of makes me cringe because it's like, that's not clean. |
| 1:13.9 | I don't know what your disinfection technique is between every plant, but I'm probably sure |
| 1:19.3 | that they're not taking the time to disinfect that completely between every plant because |
| 1:22.9 | it would just take too long. |
| 1:24.0 | If you just use scissors, you could literally have a set of scissors for each plant that follows, it's a two to four month pair of scissors. And honestly, the types of shears that we use in the garden world, two to four months for a pair of scissors is like, that's a good life. That's a good life, you know, that's a full scissor life for that guy. He died an honorable death. Yeah, he did a good |
| 1:45.4 | certain. That guy did good work and we put him away with that root ball. So that's what I |
| 1:49.7 | would recommend more than trying to use surgical tools and like auto play or, or disinfect them. |
| 1:55.3 | Just buy scissors that are dedicated to those plants, clean them and then disinfect them |
| 1:59.2 | before and after each use. As far as the |
| 2:03.9 | cutting of the plant, so there's going to be a lot of debate about where you take cuts. Here's my |
