Tonight, multiple communities across Maine are still on lockdown, and the search for

the killer is still underway after what is now the deadliest mass shooting of 2023.

Businesses are closed, and events have been canceled as the manhunt continues for the

mass murderer who killed at least 18 people and left more than a dozen injured in Maine's

second-largest city, Lewiston.

Authorities say 40-year-old suspect Robert Card is still at large and is considered date-armed

and dangerous.

He's a firearm instructor and Army reservist with a history of mental illness.

Tonight, more than 80 FBI agents are searching land and water to find him.

According to police, the suspect fatally shot his first seven victims at a bowling alley,

where a children's league was holding its weekly practice.

The Boston Globe reports, Sarah Welch, her husband and their eight-year-old daughter were

taking part in that practice when she heard what sounded like the pop of a balloon.

We saw someone fall, and we heard another pop when we ran.

We just kept running, Welch said.

Welch said she grabbed her daughter and another child and ran to shelter in a nearby restaurant.

She said that the league's coach, whom she declined to name, died in the shooting.

The person had coached her daughter since she was in kindergarten.
