Good evening, Alex. Thank you very much. Let's just jump right into this because the breaking

news tonight, as Alex just explained, senior law enforcement officials tell NBC News that Robert

Card, the suspected mass shooter in Maine, who killed 18 people and injured more than a dozen

others at a bowling alley, and Barn Grill has been found dead. Any minute now, officials in Maine

will be holding a press conference to give us the latest. Jonathan Deenst is with us,

but let's go right now to NBC News correspondent Kathy Park, who is in the room where we're expecting,

this press conference to begin any minute. Kathy.

All right, we're having problems with Kathy's mic. We'll get that fixed, but Jonathan, you are

here with us. You've been working your sources all night since this news broke. Bring us up to

speed in about the last hour we learned from numerous law enforcement officials that Robert Card

was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The sheriff's office up there is now officially

confirming it that according to Tom Winter, my colleague, they've posted it and made the official

announcement. We also obtained a bulletin shared among law enforcement that reads,

Maine State Police just found Card's body at the recycling center he used to work at.

So we are trying to determine the specific location of that facility, but it appears to be in

or near Lisbon, near where his car was abandoned, and we were told that a gun was found next

to the body, and it appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. This ends a 48 hour manhunt

for a man who was believed to be behind the massacre of 18 people at a bar and at a bowling alley

in Lewiston, Maine, and the search was from air on water on ground. They had dogs. They had

hundreds of officers and agents, the FBI, ATF, State Police, all fanning out across the region
