Summary

Life is full of moments we didn’t see coming. In this message, Pastor Andy Wood shares where we can find real peace when life feels uncertain. Jesus teaches us peace is not found by fixing what’s happening around us. Peace begins within us. While we often look to external solutions, Scripture reveals that what’s happening in our hearts is what shapes our lives. Through passages like John 14 and Mark 7, we see that transformation is an inside work. Peace flows from a right relationship with God and a heart surrendered to him. As we invite God to search our hearts and grow our trust in him, we begin to experience the kind of peace that holds steady even when life doesn’t. No matter what you’re facing, this message invites you to bring your heart to God and discover the peace only he can give.

Let's dive in.

0:26.5

Now, today we're in the second week of a message series called Path to Peace,

0:29.7

and we're looking at God's peace that he wants to give to our lives.

0:37.3

And I always know it's going to be a great day at church when I wake up and there's a little extra resistance on the home front.

So this morning, 5 a.m., I came downstairs. There was an army in my kitchen of ants greeting me first thing in the morning.

0:46.2

And so I knew God was going to move in power today because ants were present. All joking aside,

I want to share a quick story with you. These are my friends here on the screen. I do have a couple of friends. These guys, we've been friends since 12 years old, since we were in middle school together. Ryan and Mike, we grew up in the same church. We were in a small group together. We did ministry in high school together. We've stayed in touch all of these years. Ryan was my college roommate. We're in each other's wedding. Well, now, in this season of life, we get together once a year. Ryan is a pastor in Seattle, and Mike is a pastor in Chicago. And since Southern California is way better than both of those places, this is where we do it. And so they were here this last week. We had a lot of fun together. For me personally, this is like a great time just to catch up. We have all kinds of old inside jokes that I can't share with you. And it's a lot of fun. But it's a part of what God uses to refuel my soul. And on Saturday, they're all set to go home. And they kind of joke with me like I'm the one in the group that likes to have a plan.

1:44.8

So every day I'm like, okay, what are we doing today? What's the plan for the day? And they're like, bro, just relax. Like we're going to figure it out. Go with the flow, man. So that's cool. I like that. But sometimes that doesn't work out when you do it that way. So they're leaving on Saturday when they were leaving. I said, let's plan out the next day so that everybody gets to the airport so I don't have to drive you there as well. So we're coming up with a plan, which included Ryan, who left at 7.30. He's going to take my car, go to the airport. Somebody's going to pick up the car driving down the five who's coming that way already. And then Mike is going to Uber to the airport. I've got a couple of errands to run with the kids in the morning, and then I'm going to work on my sermon to get ready to preach in the weekend. And so everything's fine. The plan is working out great. So early the next morning, I wake up, give Ryan the keys to the car. He leaves. I'm kind of still in that chill mode about 30 minutes later. And Mike, if you can put the

picture back up for just a moment, I want you to see Mike in the middle here. Now every time

these guys come out, Mike leaves something at the house, socks, shoes, all kinds of stuff. So

2:46.3

Mike comes down the stairs, running, sprinting is like, bro, my flight, it's in 20 minutes.

2:55.7

And I'm like, bro, that's not a part of the plan.

2:58.5

The plan was 9.30.

3:01.0

That's why we plan, bro.

3:02.5

So anyways, he's like, can you get me to the airport?

3:05.4

I'm like, no, I can't get you to the airport in 20 minutes from now.

3:09.1

So he gets on the phone and I'm like, now all of a sudden, all the piece that I had started my day with was completely gone.

3:17.3

And anxiety floods my soul. So he's on the phone, calling, finally gets a plan, gets to the airport, everything's fine. He's got five hours

extra margin. Because my car was at the airport, he could go to the beach for three hours

and then went home to Chicago. God worked it all out. But it brought a point to the forefront
