One of the things I love most about this world is how generous it is.

How we can always be learning, we can always be growing,

we can always be expanding by simply paying attention.

Now I can give you an example of this in my life that was helpful.

I didn't even realize at the time how helpful it would be to my future as an adult. But when I was a teenager I had

lots of different jobs, I did an episode about this earlier on and one of them was working in different restaurants as a waitress. I even

worked in more than one at a time and my favorite restaurant that I worked at was

pretty nice especially for the small town I lived in at the time. I think it was a nicest

restaurant in my town. And as a waitress I love my job because I love people. And of course it was wonderful to make the money as a teenager so I could afford things or even help my parents.

But I was yet to really understand what being exposed to cool people and cool food and the correct way of eating,

how much that would help me later on in my life.

So working in a restaurant, of course,

I serve food, took orders, but also I would set the table and the incredible owner of the restaurant showed me the correct way to set a table.

I learned things such as a correct table setting. I learned that salad should be served with a cold fork.

I learned about wine and typically what goes well with what. I didn't learn any of these things growing up. They weren't skills that

were shared with me. Some kids are lucky, they get a lot of different learnings from their parents.

These skills I didn't learn at home.

But as an adult when I got a corporate job and I started going out to nice restaurants with

clients, I kind of knew how to eat, what to order, and what to expect.

But that wouldn't have happened unless I was paying attention.

It doesn't have to be some big dramatic impressive thing or someone really impressive speaking for you to learn.
