Have you ever overheard someone saying something unkind or untrue about you?

And it wounds.

You know, the world we live in today with the proliferation of so much social media and online content and so many talking

heads. It's very easy. Remember, Proverbs tells us in the multitude of words,

there wanteth not sin. It's very easy to either say something you shouldn't say or hear something

you really don't need to hear. And that's why Solomon's counsel to us in Ecclesiastes chapter 7,

verses 21 and 22, I think, is so practical and so helpful.

Let me read the verses.

Ecclesiasty 7, verse 21 says,

Also, take no heed unto all words that are spoken,

lest thou hear thy servant curse thee,

for oftentimes also thine own heart knoweth that thou thyself likewise hast cursed others.

He's dealing with words, and not just words, words that wound,

the words of people that you thought you could trust, the words of someone that you

thought had your back, but instead they were stabbing you in the back. What do you do with those

words? In a word, he's basically saying, pay no attention to those words. Now, that's easier said
