Why are they so bereft after the cross? Well, if they're only reading Jeremiah, instead of Jeremiah in concert with Isaiah 53, you

could say, New Covenant, this is great.

They wouldn't be thinking about the cross.

They'd just be thinking about the next step in Jeremiah, which is Zion, security, everything

turning out right.

The glory without the suffering.

Absolutely.

And that's what Jesus said.
