Mr Dale was arrested on this date for this burglary and such a date the main witnesses were murdered. He was then charged

with this. On such and such a date this person was murdered. Again, the only witness against him.

I mean, when you look at the chronology of all of that, yes, you could look at that and just go, well, it's got to be him. Last week we heard from disgraced former drug squad detective Paul Dale about his early

career and the crazy hazy days of policing Melbourne's drug-driven

underworld in the early 2000s. We heard about food court meetings with famous gangsters, about suburban pubs where criminals

and detectives drank together at the end of the day, and about trying to get on with your

life when you've been accused of committing terrible crimes, but no one's quite been able to convict you or kill you.

This week, we'll delve deeper into some of those crimes.
