According to multiple reports, Patriots trading Pro Bowl pass rusher match you down to the Falcons for a third round pick.

He was being paid a base salary of $6.5 million.

Third round pick is great compensation for the New England Patriots to get for a disgruntled player who's over 30 and coming off an injury and needs a new contract.

So third round pick for that kind of an asset, which is somewhat distressed as far as the Patriots are concerned, is outstanding.

It can be flipped into something next year combined. You can move up in the draft. You can get a good player in the third round.

Also, the secondary portion is you become worse on the field.

And it is yet another reminder that the Patriots understand this is a rebuilding year,

and they're in a position where they're probably not going to be that great.

They're not competing for a playoff position.
