That it would have been exposed as a smokescreen.

The Celtics were never seriously considering moving on from Jaylen Brown.

They were never seriously in on Janus.

If anything, they were trying to vulture him for a low price because the bucks weren't

getting the offers they were looking for.

They may have offered something less than Jalen Brown to the bucks.

And then if they brought in Janus, they would bring him in as sort of a one-year rental to try and get one last kick at the can for Brown and Tatum before they made some hard choices.

But they were going to trade for Janus for less than Jalen Brown, bring him in for one year, add him to Brown and Tatum before they made some hard choices. But they were going to trade for Janice for less than Jalen Brown, bring them in for one year, add them to Brown and Tatum, keep Brown, keep Tatum, and that's the most we were going to get.
