Today we're going to talk about patience when results aren't coming fast enough.

This is something that I say often with artists.

For example, maybe you've taken lots and lots of workshops,

you've established a consistent painting practice,

you show up, you put in the work, but your painting still isn't at the level that you want it to be.

It's just not where you think you should be right now.

Things are not happening fast enough. So the question often is, should you double

down or be patient with yourself? And then that brings up more questions. If you're patient with yourself,

are you letting yourself off the hook?

In this episode, I want to go beyond the understanding that

patience is simply having the ability to wait without complaining, which is

pretty much how I interpreted it as a child and what I brought with me into my adult understanding.

My understanding of patience was that it had some sort of stoicism to it which is kind of actually accurate only the thing that wasn't

accurate was my understanding of stoicism but anyway my understanding of patients if you just

summed it up was just stop complaining just wait and stop complaining

so my childhood definition of patients was kind of accurate you know just wait and

don't complain which is actually pretty close to how Google and
