| 0:00.0 | Nix hosting the calves in front of a sellout MSG crowd on Christmas afternoon. Nix had to erase not one but two deficits of at least 15 points, then found themselves in a dog fight in the final five. Bench played a monster role in this game, including Tyler Kolic, had 16 points, nine assists, the big defensive chase-down play on Donovan Mitchell, and this heads-up play that gave the Knicks the lead. Mitchell's top of the key, gets loose for a three, back rimmed it, rebound by Colick. He's got the ball far sideline. Three on two the other way. Bridges wide open, far side baseline. Pull-up jumper. Knicks take the lead with 90 seconds to go. And Knicks Radio the call Brunson then hit a massive three to give the Knicks the lead back for good. They held on for a sweaty final second or so to beat the Cavs, 126, 124. That's where I'd like to go first. The free throws from Carl Anthony Towns. I know you guys briefly mentioned it last hour. It's 125, 124. Cat gets fouled off the inbound, 1.1 to go. Makes the first, then he turns to Mike Brown and the bench. You can clearly see he's asking if he should miss the second free throw or not. He misses it. Donovan Mitchell heaves at the length of the floor, comes up short. Mitchell led the calves at 34 points. But here's the exchange between Kat and Mitchell after the game. And here's Kat saying he was told to miss. No, no, no, he told me to miss it. I don't want to miss it wrong because you and you s s s'all right there. If I missed a short, then you have to go in front of him. That's what I'm saying. Yeah, I know you mentioned it. You're okay with it. I don't know why you miss. 100%. Why would you miss that shot? I'll tell you why you miss because, and you've been, I think you've been to enough, have you been to practices or shootarounds where you see how they, they work on that out of bounds play? Every practice. I personally would much rather have a grab and heave from 90 feet. They're not making that. They're just not. I mean, one in a hundred maybe as opposed to letting them take the ball inbound. They have plays designed where it's a pass, a dribble, and a shot. And you've got guys that can make routinely make 40-foot-3s. And then you end up tied. The way they expended so much energy to come back, I think they lose an overtime. And I think the percentages would say you're going to miss that 95 foot or more than they will, what do you call, make the three-pointer. But the calves had no timeouts. I know that. So you'd be forcing them to imbound it and run a playwright with no timeout. You didn't hear me. They practice it. They know what they're They know what they're supposed to. No, no, it's okay. They know what they're supposed to do in that situation. I'm telling you right now, I've been doing enough practices where they will run a scenario. Every single practice. We've got one second to go. They're going to make the free throw. Get in your spots. Like they. So the idea, and you can run the baseline to set it up. It's not that ludicrous to think you would make a pass and a shot to tie at all. The inbound has to be perfect. The catch and shoot has to be within a second. You're talking about a 90-foot baseball pass shot. Are you serious? |
| 2:51.7 | If it goes in, you lose. If you make the free throw, they have out of a hundred. |
| 2:56.6 | But hold on a second. No, but this is the point. Yes, you will lose one out of a hundred times. |
| 3:01.6 | You end up in overtime, you're going to lose half of those. You are. |
| 3:05.0 | But how many times is that shot? Wrong. |
| 3:08.5 | More than you think. |
| 3:12.2 | You talked about Jalen Brunson being Steph Curry-like. |
| 3:14.4 | You don't think Donovan Mitchell is... He just made a 38-foot-3-pointer, made it look easy. |
| 3:18.6 | I think the analytics between a 90-40s and a 60-4 half-court shot. |
| 3:24.3 | Just, come on, stop. I just, I would never give myself the chance to lose the game. This to me is classic second-guessing, and there's nothing to second-guess. It worked out exactly the way the stats probably would show it would. I'm not second-guessing because it didn't go in. Well, that's the point. It's not supposed to go in. A shot from 90 feet is not supposed to go in. That's right. Well, I got another issue. |
| 3:41.7 | So, Kat... in. Well, that's the point. It's not supposed to go in. A shot from 90 feet is not supposed to go in. |
| 3:46.7 | Okay. Well, I got another issue. So, uh, Kat of course, gets into foul trouble early in the game, |
| 3:50.9 | finishes with 11 points, 14 rebounds. He was on the bench as a Nick started their huge comeback. |
| 3:55.4 | That's not even the worst thing he did yesterday. He got engaged to his longtime girlfriend, |
| 4:14.4 | Jordan Woods. That's bad? No, the getting engaged part. What was that? The getting engaged part, I'm happy for him. Who proposes on Christmas? I feel like a lot of people probably propose on Christmas. Well, there's a lot of idiots out there. Why would you take a day that is going to be special no matter what? Maybe they have a bad home life and they wanted to make it special. |
| 4:30.1 | Oh, I know Katz had a lot of family. I don't know. A lot of Katz's families died because of COVID. I wasn't even going. I'm just saying maybe it's a day where you can kind of reverse your fortunes. I don't know. I didn't get engaged on Christmas. I don't know. What's her background? now you make me feel like an ass Well that's why I reacted the way I did |
| 4:31.7 | He kind of shoved it right back in your face there |
| 4:33.9 | Oh I did. |
| 4:31.6 | He kind of shoved it right back in your face there. |
| 4:33.6 | Oh, I didn't mean to. |
| 4:35.6 | I'm just, I'm trying to play devil's ad, I don't know. Point, counterpoint, you know? Because I see where he's going. Christmas for most people is... Christmas can be a sad day for a lot of people |
| 4:43.9 | that have had family deaths and whatnot. |
