Good morning. It is Saturday, May 8th. I'm Ali Velshi. We've got a heaping, helping of news for you this May morning.

Here's what you need to know. Former Minneapolis police officer and convicted murderer Derek Chauvin has now been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges that he violated George Floyd's constitutional civil rights.

Three other former Minneapolis police officers who were involved in Floyd's arrest and death

have also been indicted. In a separate two-count indictment, Chauvin has now also been

charged with violating the civil rights of a 14-year-old boy back in 2017.

We're going to have much more on the major milestone

this could be in the fight for justice in the United States later in the hour. The Wall Street

Journal is reporting this morning that there is now bipartisan agreement on several key pieces

of the police reform legislation that President Biden has called on Congress to pass by the

anniversary of George Floyd's death on May 25th. A group of Republican senators and members of

Congress have been working with Democrats on compromise legislation, but elsewhere, the GOP is in

absolute chaos. House Republicans appear poised to outs one of their own Wyoming Congressman

Liz Cheney from her leadership post for insufficiently insufficiently being loyal to Donald Trump.
