As voters prepared to head for the polls for Super Thursday, party leaders are facing their

first electoral test since 2019.

I'm Heather Stewart, political editor of the Guardian and this is politics weekly.

A job of rebuilding the Labour Party was never going to be completed in a year or so.

I don't think anybody realistically thought that, but these are a very, very important

set of elections for us.

Tomorrow marks a very busy day at the ballot box.

Voters go to the polls and council elections across England.

There's a key parliamentary by-election in Hartley Pool, mayoral elections and elections

to the Welsh Assembly and the Scottish Parliament.

With some 5,000 seats up for grabs, the stakes for the two biggest parties are high.

Keir Starmer in particular will be looking to see whether he's claimed that Labour is

under new leadership has made any impact on the voters.

While in Scotland, Nicol Sturgeon is looking for the endorsement she needs to make a renewed

push for an independence referendum.

So how have politicians been trying to win over the electorate?

We'll review their campaigns.

Pollsters have been working tirelessly trying to predict the results ahead of time, but

how easy is it to project the outcome of such a complicated set of elections?
