1993 Walter Isaacson then a journalist for Time magazine is interviewing Woody Allen

about his infamous affair with Sunyeh Previn.

For those of you that don't know your story or it's before your time, Allen was in a relationship

for years with Mia Farrow, a well-known model and actress.

Farrow adopted Sunyeh as a little girl from South Korea then she adopted a few more children

kind of the original Angelina Jolie then eventually she and Woody had a son together, years

go by 15 plus years and Mia finds photos of her eldest adopted daughter in the nude in Woody's

briefcase or something and it comes out they are sleeping together Woody is 56, Sunyeh

is 21.

This is long before me too and Allen goes on to then date her in public for a number of

years and eventually they marry in 97 and reading Isaacson's interview who's become

this premier biographer and head of the Aspen ideas institute at the time he's a journalist

and he's so good at his job and he's just persistent he just will not stop he's very kind

but very to the point and it's a fascinating case study in the human condition Google to

your heart's content will take you 10 minutes to read but Allen just time after time after

time will not admit that he did anything wrong and at the very end of the interview Allen

has this iconic like only Woody Allen could say that line the heart as the justification

for his affair he says the heart wants what it wants.

Now that line the heart wants what it wants has entered the vernacular of our generation

I hear that on a semi-regular basis usually to describe why we do what it is we do very

few people know or at least remember where it actually comes from even my most liberty

friends would not approve of a sexual relationship where a dad becomes a brother-in-law and a sister
