in a systematic way before in this podcast. And in some ways, it can be summarized

that there's four core essentials of all emotionally healthy discipleship. It's about one, slowing

down to be with Jesus, and all that that involves, silence, solitude, etc. First is slowing down.

Secondly, is go back to go forward, our theme for today.

Thirdly, is learning skills to love well. And fourthly, it's practicing Sabbath rhythms.

But today we're going to focus on go back to go forward, really a very large theme. And again,

my goal is only briefly briefly review what's found in the

books and the course, but I want to supplement and build it out a bit as it applies in particular

to leadership. So there's a three-part framework for going back to go forward. And let me just give a very brief summary here.

First is that the blessings and sins of our families go back three to four generations,

and this profoundly affects who we are today.

And so when the Bible speaks of family, it refers to our extended family,
