Hello and welcome to Business Daily from the BBC World Service. I'm Matt Lines. Today we're

continuing our series looking ahead to the Paris Olympics. So far we've looked at the massive

expansion of the Paris metro system, Olympic fashion and so-called super shoes. And in today's episode, I'll be talking all things

breaking. In fact, before we go any further, let's make that clear. The sport is called

breaking, not breakdancing, despite what you might have heard. And for the first time,

it's at the Olympics. I mean, just prepared to be amazed.

Breaking is very impressive.

It's completely different from anything at the Olympics because it is an art form,

but there is a sports aspect to it.

So it's going to be completely unique.

From the streets of the Bronx in the 70s to sports biggest stage of Paris 2024. We hear how it got there from some of those who've been integral to its rise and some of those who will be taking the

floor this summer. Look, no one gets into breaking to make a lot of money. It's just, we're just not

in that position. It just hasn't been a lot of money and breaking.

You can't work as a breaker full time.

You know, there's no way that there's that opportunity.

People are juggling careers, other jobs.

We'll be looking at the finances the sport,

and with it not being on the list for the LA Games in four years' time,

post-Paris, what does the future look like for the next generation?

Our commitment to breaking is obviously linked to the Olympics, but it's also linked to the deep route community.

Whether it's in the Olympics in four years' time or not, truthfully, we are all about

just supporting breaking and that won't change.
