A little cooler here in Myrtle Beach than normal. I'm actually wearing my hoodie. I love autumn. I love October. It's always been one of my favorite months of the year,

one of my favorite seasons of the year. And I know I'm not alone in that. In fact, I think most

people that I talk to say that fall is their favorite season. I mean, what's not to like about autumn? I probably shouldn't

phrase it that way because once you start thinking, well, life does get really busy in the fall

and the season that follows autumn is enough. I love autumn. I'm not alone in that. We are in the midst of leaves beginning to change,

and maybe they've already started where you are. Maybe you haven't even seen a hint of the changing

colors. I lived in Maryland my entire life, and October always represented the changing of the leaves.

Here in South Carolina in Myrtle Beach, October does not represent that.

In fact, the first autumn we were here, I was commuting back and forth between Maryland and Myrtle Beach and totally missed

the changing colors of the leaves because it happened much later, mid to late November. And

that first year we were here, Ava moved down here in mid-October and I was commuting back and forth

and didn't permanently move down until the end of December.

And I think when the leaves really started changing, I was up in Maryland.

I've since seen it and we do have leaves to change, but it's not nearly as brilliant, not nearly as beautiful as what I was used to in Maryland.

I mean, we've got a lot of pine trees and a lot of palm trees, and neither one of those create beautiful autumn colors.

So autumn doesn't mean quite the same thing to me now as it did when I lived in Maryland.

We used to have a Japanese maple in the front yard.
