and I am a grateful alcohol today. And this is our panel, women in AA. You know, I feel a kinship

for women in AA. You know, we come in

and we want to be doubly good. I know I did. I'm speaking for business. You know, I want

to try that much harder, you know. I heard a man say, the only thing worse than a drunken man

is a drunken woman. I didn't agree with it, but that's what he said. So I said, and that was in Kentucky at a conference in 74.

But I said, we have tried, I mean, we try extra hard, you know, extra hard.

Because it seems like we had to get that self-respect, that self-esteem, you know.

Like my mother said, a man take a bath and he missed a so-and-so.

You know, he get all dressed up. Women, after they get drunk or something, they feel, you know what?

You know, so it was a double standard there.

But women in AA, and being a woman in AA, has brought me great pride and great joy and a whole lot of self-respect.

Vivian found Vivian and Vivian got her self-respect. Vivian found Vivian in AA, and Vivian got herself respect back in AA.

There's no other place, as I know, that could bring all that back to me.

There's another organization that I can go to where I can look myself in the mirror and say,

hey, you're pretty good girl.

I love you today.

Because when I came to AA, I hated myself.

I thought there was nothing lower than me.

But thanks to you people and the love you shared with me and understanding, I'm a different person.
